Board of Directors
Our Vision

Healthy ecosystems, production systems and communities in the Wet Tropics.

Our Mission

Insprire our community's commitment and understanding to achieve ecologically sustainable natural resource use.

Terrain does this by:

  • Mobilising community efforts
  • Buidling effective partnerships
  • Supporting landscape rehabiliation and sustainable industries
  • Gather and applying local knowledge and science
  • Investing in regional communities and our environment.

The Terrain Management Board has eight directors and an independent chairperson. The Board is also supported by an indigenous support member.

The board provides strategic direction by:

  • Developing and implementing the Regional NRM Plan and Investment Strategy
  • Attracting and leveraging investments from both government and private sources
  • Developing joint partnerships
  • Developing and implementing incentive mechanisms to promote NRM goals
  • Providing independent advice to government and agencies on NRM matters
  • Linking to statutory planning processes.

As part of its commitment toward open communications with the community, all board meetings are open to the public and ratified minutes are available.

In 2008 the Board and staff undertook a comprehensive process to produce a 2008-2011 Corporate Plan which set its strategic priorities and objectives toward which its future efforts and resources are to be focussed on behalf of the region.
