- $11.8m across the Wet Tropics and Dry Tropics
- Cane Farms
- Focused on improved nitrogen management
- Competitive tender program
A number of market-based competitive tenders (reverse auctions) are being used to allocate funds (up to $500,000) to bidders offering the best value for money projects over a number of years.
Terrain NRM has been appointed to administer the tenders on behalf of the Wet Tropics Sugar Industry Partnership (WTSIP).
This project aims to build on the success of previous tenders where a number of farmers have benefitted from reducing their costs and maintaining productivity while improving their nitrogen management.
Farmers have the flexibility to determine which practice changes to implement on their farm to improve nitrogen management. This is a great opportunity to increase farm sustainability, and reduce costs, as well as refining the use of nitrogen (N) input.

You can also talk to your local WTSIP Extension Officer who can help you develop a suitable project for the tender program as well as a farm scale nutrient management plan.
