New Wet Tropics Regional Landcare Facilitator
November 22, 2017
Welcome to Jen Redway, who’s taken on the role of Wet Tropics Regional Landcare Facilitator.
A brief history
Jen’s been with Terrain NRM for the last year as part of the Reef Team, where she was working with industry and community to deliver projects that improve water quality outcomes for the region.
This followed a 20 year stint in the Northern Territory, where she was involved in all things NRM for various agencies including Parks Australia, the Central Land Council, the Northern Land Council, and the West Arnhem Land Fire Association, which she enjoyed immensely. For someone who loves fire, the heat finally got to her in Darwin and she came to Cairns looking for cooler and greener pastures.
“Any natural landscape away from the suburbs is better for your peace of mind than rushing around the big smoke. The landscape matters to me because life depends on it.”
Jen said she’s looking forward to getting to know the locals, and FNQ landscape better. “I’m keen for more collaboration, friendly workshops, and connecting people with people.” It’s also worth noting that Jen’s a self declared keen writer of reports and grant applications!
You said it…
“I was born in Adelaide, raised in Goldsworthy, Perth, Lamb Island, Boggabilla, and the Adelaide Hills. I left home at 17 because I was sick of moving house all the time, but then moved to Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, Lajamanu (Hooker Creek), Darwin, and now Cairns. Maybe I should move back in with Mum and Dad…”
