TRACKING THE PROGRESS OF REEF PROJECTS

Overview

The Reef 2050 Water Quality Improvement Plan includes basin-by-basin targets for reducing pollutants affecting the Great Barrier Reef. Many projects are underway to address both urban and agricultural pollutant sources.

The Australian and Queensland governments’ have a framework of report cards that evaluate progress towards these targets.

Terrain coordinates the programs for the Wet Tropics Region.

1. Paddock to Reef

The Paddock to Reef Integrated Monitoring, Modelling and Reporting Program (P2R) monitors and measures changes in contaminant loads and links on-ground practice changes with water quality and flow data. It brings the work of many projects together, providing a framework for evaluating and reporting on progress to the 2025 targets in the 2050 Reef Water Quality Improvement Plan.

2. Wet Tropics Waterway Health Report Card

The annual Wet Tropics Waterway Health Report Card is produced by Wet Tropics Waterways, a partnership of 50+ organisations. The operations team are based within Terrain NRM.
