Role: Steve manages and coordinates industry partnerships and provides strategic advice and support. Key partnership projects include the Wet Tropics Sugar Industry Partnership, the Wet Tropics Major Integrated Project, Report Card, and the Herbert Gully Erosion Project. Steve looks forward to working with the considerable expertise and experience engaged in these partnerships.
Background: Steve has a varied background starting out on cereal and pastoral properties in South Australia, then undertaking and completing a degree in NRM. Steve moved to Central Australia to provide cattle and tourism project development advice for the Central Land Council in the early 80’s. This was followed by a move to Kakadu to take up a position with the Northern Land Council in 1990, where he coordinated consultation and negotiations in relation to mining, exploration, corporate governance, and NRM delivery. Over the last 16 years Steve was the Executive Officer of the Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation a leading Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger group who manage the Dhimurru Indigenous Protected Area.
Out of the office, he keeps himself busy with family, fishing, and motorbike adventure touring. He's keen on exploring this amazing part of the world and doing his bit to support sustainable futures for our regional economies.
